The Audit and Risk Recruitment company is exclusively recruiting an Internal Auditor of behalf of a highly profitable, FTSE listed, commercial organisation in Harrogate.
This is ideal for an internal auditor with a couple of years’ experience really looking to learn and build within an environment that affords plenty of responsibility and places an emphasis on the development of its auditors. There are examples of people progressing into managerial roles within audit and into the business within an operational capacity.
Your role would be reporting into a knowledgeable, approachable, and friendly manager within a small (currently 3 people) yet growing internal audit function that is held in very high regard by the business. You will often find divisional MDs approaching internal audit for advice and guidance, and this will include you too, the team and wider culture of the business is not hierarchical. Given your audits will also bring you into contact with senior people across the business, it’s key you are able to communicate effectively and apply sound commercial awareness.
In terms of the audits, they are risk-based in what is a largely operationally focused plan and you will have end-to-end ownership of audits within that plan. You will also conduct risk reviews and project-based work so the breadth of exposure you will gain is huge.
Travel will be c. 25% and mainly to other UK sites within the Group. After the first year or so, there will be more scope to travel to their European and non-European hubs.
In addition to base salary, you will receive a leased car and full study support if required. They will also fund additional qualifications or certifications for areas such as data analytics.
Background requirements
- Internal audit experience, minimum 1 year ideally 2
- Professional qualification or working towards a professional qualification (CIA, ACCA, ACCA)
- Strong communication skills and a personable approach
- Data analytics experience would be ideal
- Experience within a commercially focused business would also be ideal but is not a must
