The Audit & Risk Recruitment Company is recruiting a Lead ESG Auditor on behalf of a Warwickshire based, FTSE listed organisation.

This is a newly created position and working with the senior management team within the audit function, you will develop the ESG audit programme.  Prior audit experience is not required and will be taught by your highly supportive audit colleagues, but instead, you will have a background in ESG reporting.  You will be proving assurance for a variety of highly intelligent and engaged teams across the Group (e.g., the sustainability team), at both a national and international level.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned programme of audits, with a focus on ESG matters, in line with excellent quality and within allocated time, using professional judgement to set the scope and testing approach to ensure key risks are addressed.
  • Develop and enhance the audit approach in relation to ESG matters, including: developing a network of specialists within business; writing and updating related guidance material; and development and delivery of ESG audit methodology training content.
  • Lead ESG audit analytics and data visualisation efforts to provide ESG specific insights from audits
  • Proactively look for areas of improvement during the audit process and provide value adding and insightful recommendations that address control and process opportunities/ weaknesses.
  • Continuously communicate with Audit managers to avoid surprises and ensure audit progression.
  • Produce discussion documents and draft audit reports that are well written and effectively communicate the key findings and recommendations of the audit.
  • Own and manage a portfolio of audit actions being remediated by business and, on business completion, assess the effectiveness of activities undertaken to address the risks identified.
  • Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders and maintain a thorough knowledge of the business and regulatory environment

Background

  • 2+ years of experience with ESG regulatory reporting
  • Good communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with senior level stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience of data analytics would be beneficial
  • Experience and ability to work in small teams as individual contributor or team leader, including experience managing project teams and influencing others.
  • Passion for ESG issues, sustainability, and climate change
